In accordance with the Mission Vision and Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care the position promotes a safe environment for patients residents families visitors and staff.
Reporting to the Leader Distribution Services or Supervisor Laundry & Linen this position provides laundry services by performing duties such as:
- Collecting sorting washing drying folding weighing and distributing laundry and/or linens.
- Performs alterations and repairs on garments and furnishings by operating a sewing machine.
What You Bring
Education:
- Grade 10 plus one years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to organize work.

Your Day to Day:
- Collects weighs sorts and records soiled linen and laundry. Delivers soiled laundry to laundry room.
- Loads and unloads washers and dryers selects wash cycles sets temperature and switches machine on and off.
- Folds sorts and irons dry laundry.
- Transfers clean linen from clean linen carts to hospital carts according to determined quantities and quotas.
- Distributes clean linen and laundry to user areas.
- Perform alterations and repairs on clothing and furnishings such as curtains and drapes by operating a sewing machine.
- Prints clothing labels and attaches to personal laundry items.
- Cleans and maintains related equipment and designated areas.
- Checks machines regularly to ensure safe and effective functioning and notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
- Maintains linen and laundry supplies such as mops tea towels and clean-up rags for deliver to various areas by requisitioning supplies restocking folding and packing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
