Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking a UI Software Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will influence national strategies and policies by guiding decisions on integrating next-generation technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) satellite navigation and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).Whether youre supporting safety validation efforts or leading teams on major FAA programs your work will directly impact the millions of passengers and aviation professionals who rely on safe efficient airspace operations every day.

In this position you will:

  • Collaborate with leading experts in government academia and industry to address some of the most complex challenges in modern aviation.
  • Contribute to critical research programs at premier facilities such as the William J. Hughes Technical Center where cutting-edge simulations and testing shape the National Airspace System (NAS).
  • Bridge research and operational application ensuring innovative solutions are practical safe and ready for deployment across the aviation ecosystem.
  • Conduct and guide research and development on technologies supporting the NAS airport infrastructure and air traffic management.
  • Lead or contribute to design testing and innovation initiatives for next-generation aviation systems.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • 2-5 years of experience working as a software engineer focused on user interfaces
  • Bachelors degree in computer science computer engineering or a related field
  • Experience working with front-end technologies such as HTML5 JavaScript and CSS along with JavaScript frameworks such as React Angular JQuery etc.
  • Experience working with back-end technologies such as Java and Python especially for the development of APIs web services and web applications
  • Prior experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Experience with professional software development practices such as source code management code reviews and testing
  • A demonstrated ability to pick up new programming languages and technologies quickly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated independent detail oriented responsible team-player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of aviation systems UAS integration AI applications or satellite navigation systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA research environments or facilities like the William J. Hughes Technical Center.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations national airspace policies or international aviation standards (e.g. ICAO).
  • Experience working with UX designers and other software engineers in a team setting
  • Experience with front-end testing tools such as Cypress Jest and Selenium
  • Experience with AWS development including EC2 API Gateway etc.
  • Prior experience working with DevSecOps processes and tools
  • Prior experience providing technical leadership to a team or mentoring to junior personnel

Target Salary Range

$66000 - $106000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position employees may be eligible for overtime shift differential and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
