JOB DUTIES:

  • Supports Trades staff with execution of work orders; assists or independently completes work orders related to repair and upkeep of interior and exterior physical structures on campus

  • Assists with Trades work related to carpentry painting drywall repair door/window repair minor furniture repair etc.

  • Supports campus key shop (issuing/collecting/recording keys); provides locksmithing as needed

  • Assists with access control hardware and software; maintains building access hardware and software; makes and assigns keys; troubleshoots and repairs electronic door locks

  • Assists other Facilities Services personnel with general labor as needed

  • Organizes/labels stored materials within campus buildings

  • Carries on-call phone used to report facility needs/emergencies during non-business hours; receives calls; identifies problems reported; responds (as needed) or notifies other parties to respond

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.

-OR-

Education and Experience:A combination of related education formalized apprenticeship program and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience and skill using Microsoft computer programs

  • Strong communication skills

  • Excellent time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines

  • Prior occupational experience using electronic work order systems

Per the requirements of the Step Pay Program implemented on July 1 2024 any State employee must be paid a rate that is equal to or greater than the appropriate step pay rate within their classifications pay range based on completed years in their current class series as of June 30. All current and former State employees must ensure that your entire work history within the State Classified System including at Institutions of Higher Education is indicated in your application so that your time-in-series can be calculated accurately.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be a Colorado Resident at the time of application.

  • The selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.

  • The selected candidate must have/maintain a valid regular Colorado Drivers License.

  • This position is designated as essential services (meaning it performs services directly necessary for the health safety and welfare of Western Colorado University facility users). As such there may be times when the position is required to work unexpected or unusual work hours without delay or interruption to perform essential and/or emergency services.
