Job Duties
The Division of Surveillance and Investigation (DSI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as the Deputy Director of Surveillance for our Division. This position is responsible for overseeing programmatic operations and supervising staff working in our syndromic surveillance outbreak surveillance REDCap data management and quality assurance genomic epidemiology and research and analytics programs and serves as a liaison with our Division of Informatics and Information Systems. A solid working knowledge of data systems used by our disease surveillance teams including a National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) Base System (NBS) and CDCs National Syndromic Surveillance Program (NSSP) as well as strong data management data analysis and data visualization skills are essential for programmatic success.
This position performs work of considerable difficulty and complexity to include interpreting programmatic and administrative policies and procedures training staff expenditure tracking and change communication. This position works under the supervision of the Division Director. Successful employees are organized detail-oriented show initiative and self-leadership are collegial and work well with others and can function in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in principles/practices that support assigned program
Knowledge and experience in administrative and business practices programmatic and operational controls personnel management and budgetary management
Ability to apply knowledge and skills in program evaluation analysis and strategic planning; ability to interpret laws regulations and policies and determine programmatic impact
Skills and experience in leadership interpersonal communication and public speaking working with boards committees health care entities and federal and state agencies
Experience and ability to provide training and direct the work of others maintain effective working relationships with staff high level government officials lawmakers and others and communicate effectively orally and in writing
Additional Considerations
Prior managerial/programmatic/operational experience in a public health setting
