Job Summary

The HR Total Rewards Intern will be exposed to a wide variety of responsibilities and learning opportunities in the department. The areas include HR Information Systems (HRIS) Benefits Payroll and Compensation.

The Moms Meals Summer Internship Program is a paid project-based 12-week program beginning May 18 2026 and ending August 7 2026. Our project-based internship program provides participants with the training coaching and hands-on experience to be successful professionals in their chosen fields. Our internship assignments focus on practical value added projects that help create a connection between what is learned in the classroom and what is required in the manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

Internship location will be onsite in our corporate office in Ankeny IA and working a hybrid schedule is acceptable. Preference will be given to local candidates to the Des Moines IA area.

Position Responsibilities may include but not limited to

    • Assist in the administration and maintenance of HRIS systems ensuring data accuracy and integrity
    • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving HRIS-related issues
    • Support projects related to compensation
    • Contribute efforts in data and pay analysis related to compensation
    • Assist with timely and accurately processing payroll master data and payroll processing
    • Provide prompt customer service with payroll questions and payroll-related policy questions
    • Help process employee benefits enrollments changes and terminations in the HR system ensuring data accuracy and timely updates
    • Support employee communications by answering basic benefits-related questions and directing complex issues to senior staff for resolution

Required Skills and Experience

    • College Junior or Senior at time of internship currently pursuing a degree in Business Human Resources or related field
    • Minimum GPA of 3.8 or higher
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Accuracy and strong attention to detail; ability to prioritize effectively
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information
    • Professional positive and enthusiastic attitude
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt

Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Exposure to data management analytics and reporting

Physical Requirements

    • Repetitive motions that include the wrists hands and/or fingers
    • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods
    • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
