Respond to sexual assault survivors in the Emergency Department when called in during shift.
Assist survivors of sexual violence by identifying and resolving or ameliorating needs related to the trauma through providing specialized medical assessment and treatment evidence collection (as indicated) documentation facilitation of follow-up and referrals and testifying in court (as indicated).
by phone or pager for the duration of requested on-call shifts and able to reach the Mount Sinai ED within 60 minutes of being called in.
to Emergency Department requests for assistance in treating sexual assault survivors during shift.
clinical and forensic assessment and present menu of available options for survivor.
medical and forensic interventions based on the needs and expressed wishes of the survivor.
referral for follow-up medical needs.
accurate records and documentation as outlined in the Mount Sinai ED Code 11 Protocol and via directions from SAFE Coordinator.
with the SAFE Coordinator the next business day following being called in for a case.
in at least two Program Meetings annually.
SAFE credentials through completion of DOH-required continuing education specific to sexual violence and forensic medicine every three years.
