We are looking for a passionate and drivenProduct Compliance & Safety Lead to join our fast-growing team at ELU (Electrification Unit of Yanmar).
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Product Compliance & Safety Lead to join our team in the dynamic field of battery technology and electric powertrains. As Product Compliance & Safety Lead you will be responsible for ensuring that our battery products and electric powertrain solutions comply with all relevant regulatory requirements standards and norms.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including battery development e-powertrain development manufacturing quality assurance and the wider organisation to develop and implement compliance strategies policies and procedures.
This role offers the opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the future of electric off-highway equipment while ensuring the safety and compliance of our products. The teams scope will encompass the whole electric powertrain including battery e-motor and power electronics focusing on the European and North American market at first and in the future expanding to include the Asian market (Japan Korea).
Your key responsibilities
- Leadership: Create & manage a small team of industry compliance specialists across multiple locations such as EMEA USA and ASIA ensure clear communication and drive development of team interaction and collaboration inspire educate and drive performance.
- Regulatory Compliance Management: Stay abreast of relevant regulations standards directives and industry best practices including but not limited to safety environmental and transportation regulations for different applications in different regions. Participate in industry association such as but not limited to RECHAGE EUROMOT EUROBAT.
- Compliance Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive compliance strategies roadmaps and action plans to ensure that our products meet all applicable regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Product Testing and Certification: Coordinate product homologation activities with internal and external laboratories to evaluate compliance with regulatory standards and obtain necessary certifications and approvals (e.g. CE Marking FCC certification).
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance documentation test reports certifications and technical files in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Team Collaboration:Collaborate with & Educate R&D manufacturing procurement and quality assurance teams to integrate compliance considerations into product development processes design reviews and manufacturing operations.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Supplier and Vendor Management: Evaluate the compliance of third-party suppliers and vendors including contract manufacturers and component suppliers and set procurement policies to ensure that they meet applicable regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline compliance processes improve efficiency and enhance compliance monitoring and reporting capabilities.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on compliance requirements regulations and best practices related to battery technology.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering Chemistry Regulatory Affairs or related field preferred masters degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product compliance regulatory affairs or related roles in the electrification industry.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements standards and certifications applicable to battery technology. Participating in industry associations such as RECHARGE EUROBAT EUROMOT.
- Experience with compliance testing certification processes and working with regulatory agencies and notified bodies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in both Dutch and English both spoken and written.
- Ability to create structure and convey complex information effectively to various stakeholders.
- Willingness to occasionally travel and participate in industry conventions and association events.
