Job Summary

Overview:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director the Strategic Partnerships Manager will oversee and coordinate resource development and planning for the Office of Black Male Advancement (BMA) along with assisting with research marketing and community partnerships.

The mission of the Equity and Inclusion Cabinet is to ensure that every resident has fair access to City resources and opportunities. We achieve this by embedding equity and inclusion into our current City practices building our collective capacity on issues of racial and social justice and fostering a more welcoming and accessible city.

The departments in the Equity and Inclusion Cabinet take an anti-poverty approach to their work focusing on the following areas:

- Improving outcomes for BIPOC (Black Indigenous people of color) communities in particular immigrants women and LGBTQ residents.

- Increasing access for people with disabilities and those who speak a language other than English.

- Eliminating barriers to fair housing and human rights.

This is not your typical 9-5 pm role. We are looking for folks that share our core values of people-first leadership intentional strategy and justice.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates resource development for BMA programs and initiatives in conjunction with program managers and administrators.
  • Develops implements and maintains system(s) for identifying and tracking public and private funding opportunities and funds received.
  • Designs develops and implements monthly program development newsletter.
  • Provides planning program development fundraising data collection and extensive grant writing and technical assistance.
  • Coordinates and expands BMAs strategic external resource partnerships.
  • Research public and private sector funding opportunities.
  • Coordinates grant writing for BMA programs.
  • Provide funding updates to the Executive Director of BMA.
  • Coordinates community capacity-building initiatives.
  • Prepares executive-level presentations designed to tell a story and influence an outcome.
  • Assists the Policy and Research Director with the development and coordination of research trend/status reports and surveys that provide data and key findings on Bostons Black men and boys.
  • Assists the Community Outreach Manager in overall public relations marketing and community outreach through various means.
  • Assists with various projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Between three (3) and five (5) years of experience in planning program development strategic partnerships grant writing or fundraising.
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field of study preferred and may be substituted for two (2) years of required experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities in a changing work environment.
  • Knowledge of Bostons Black Male communities.
  • Knowledge of Bostons non-profit and human service field.
  • Knowledge of budget preparations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Access preferred.
  • Knowledge working with grant software or tools such as Razor Edge or related fundraising software preferred.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with various community partners sponsors etc.
  • Ability to prepare executive-level presentations designed to tell a story and influence an outcome
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish Haitian Creole Cape Verdean Creole Chinese or Vietnamese).
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

Boston Residency Required.
