DescriptionThe Sound and Behavior Group Department of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense Odense is hiring a permanent full-time position (37 hours/week) laboratory assistant with start date January 1st 2026 or on a later date as agreed upon.
Our laboratory works with research within neurobiology physiology and behavior related to sound communication in animals. We work among other things on song learning in songbirds hearing in frogs and bats and the effects of anthropogenic noise in marine mammals. Our research uses a number of methods within physiology neurobiology and acoustics ranging from molecular biology to animal behavior. We are a research group of approximately 30 people divided between academics laboratory assistants and students at the SDU campus in Odense and the Marine Biological Research Center in Kerteminde.
Responsibilities
- Daily operation and maintenance of molecular biology laboratory.
- Research support for academic staff and students
- Support with experimental setups and data management
Qualifications
- We are looking for a flexible laboratory technician with good organizational and collaboration skills who also works well independently.
- The applicant must have knowledge of English at a general conversational level as the person concerned must among other things be able to help international partners and students in an international working environment.
- Experience in basic molecular biology techniques especially gene expression analysis RNA-extraction Western blotting cell culture recombinant protein expression and purification
- Experience working with animals is advantageous but not necessary
- Driving license for a car
- No allergies to animals.
