Job Description

Our client is a leading IT organisation that is looking for a IT Systems Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation maintenance and strategic development of their IT systems and infrastructure. This is a key leadership position where you will take ownership of their technology environment ensuring performance resilience and security while supporting the growth and efficiency of their business.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain servers networks storage virtualisation and cloud infrastructure
Lead the deployment configuration and upgrade of system software and hardware
Monitor system performance troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability and reliability
Implement and enforce security protocols patch management backup strategies and disaster recovery plans
Manage relationships with third-party vendors for hardware software and IT services
Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations with minimal business disruption
Lead mentor and support a small team of system administrators and IT support staff
Work cross-functionally with other departments and IT teams to deliver infrastructure support for ongoing projects
Maintain up-to-date documentation of system architecture processes and configurations
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices recommending relevant improvements
Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for maintenance or emergencies when needed

Your skills:

Extensive experience managing complex IT systems and infrastructure
Solid experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
Proficiency with cloud technologies like AWS or Azure
Strong understanding of networking (LAN/WAN firewalls VPNs)
Expert knowledge of Windows Server and Linux/Unix operating systems
Deep understanding of security backup and disaster recovery best practices
Proven ability to lead and develop a small team of technical staff
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience)
