IT Systems Consultant – SAP Basis

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from $138343 to $172929

Job Summary:

The IT Systems Consultant - SAP Basis role understands the strategic direction of the IT organization the supporting systems/technologies and architectures at an enterprise level. This position is responsible for assisting in the definition of the architecture and technology needs of the IT organization based on emerging technologies in SAP Basis area. The incumbent is responsible to lead and oversee SAP Basis operations for SAP Applications that support the Business processes of all the Avangrid Electric and Gas companies. This role is also responsible for establishing priorities consistent with business needs and goals. Serve as a technical consultant to maintain SAP product lifecycle roadmap looking for Stability Efficiency Security Integration Consolidation and Transformation. The incumbent will be expected to effectively manages the SAP Basis day-to-day operations projects and roadmaps ensuring that resources are provided to meet the business needs. Additionally the incumbent will provide technical expertise and support for complex technical problems as well as effectively manage multiple priorities challenging and rigid deadlines.

The IT Systems Consultant SAP Basis position reports into the Senior Manager SAP.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs as the technical subject matter expert in managing complex/multiple SAP landscapes for production support and projects to meet SLAs. Manages preventive maintenance for the SAP systems including patching upgrades performance management etc.
• Provides technical leadership to projects teams and business initiatives as required. Accountable to work with project teams (internal and external) and management to resolve technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Maintains knowledge of emerging technological trends and utilizes this knowledge to educate both IT and the business community to better utilize SAP solutions that support and drive business decisions.
• Knowledgeable of related products and technologies and understand systems integration. Understands the value and impact of SAP technology as it applies to business processes.
• Strictly follows the Change Management policies to avoid the business impact actively participates in critical incident resolution and problem management process.
• Identifies and evaluates new technologies/services and establish/recommended strategic direction. Find solutions to complex technology issues providing direction as required. Stay current on technologies within assigned technical area.
• Leads plans coordinates and provides activities associated with SAP Basis technology from inception to competition.
• Able to adjust priorities in a dynamic fashion to account for changes in business needs.
• Responsible for ensuring initiatives is carried out according to standards recommends policies and procedures.
• Enforces SAP best practices on supported environments. Follows IT Security Compliance and Audit guidelines and addresses the gaps.
• Mentors staff on technical subjects and business-related information.
• Works collaboratively with the business area and IT management team and staff in the development and maintenance of business applications/solutions.
• Actively participates in IT strategic planning and other IT leadership processes as required.
• Manages medium/large scale SAP implementation projects upgrades migrations etc.
• Oversees external vendors/resources.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Information Technology Business or a related field with a minimum 10 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Relevant work experience to include 8 years or more working in designing and building SAP system landscapes and Basis experience in the build and support of SAP systems including ECC CRM BW PO BOBJ and HANA.
• Requires knowledge of OS (Unix/Linux) and DB (HANA Oracle).
• Experience with Backup and Recovery of SAP systems.
• Experience with SAP systems refreshes.
• Experience with High Availability and DR setup and testing of SAP systems.
• Experience with Solution Manager setup and configuration.
• Experience with full lifecycle projects of SAP ERP systems.
• Experience with SAP systems upgrades and migrations.
• Strong service delivery experience within IT.
• Prior leadership and management skills.
• Able to manage multiple priorities challenging and rigid deadlines and technologies.
• Able to work with management team counterparts to meet priorities and resolve issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level.
• The ability to proactively identify innovative solutions to challenging problems and explain complex concepts and risk both simply and accurately to non-technical users.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• SAP certification.
• Project Management experience.
• Experience with S/4HANA migration/transformation.
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure and migrations.
