Work hours: PRN Nights 7:00 pm 7:00 am- Rotating Weekends/Holidays

Provides Leadership and clinical expertise to support the Med/surg General surgical unit (36 bed unit.
The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics related wound care cases requiring ostomy drain and wound vac management.

Level I Trauma Center
Heres What You Need:
Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS- within 90 Days required
CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 60 days of hire
1-year experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting required
2-years experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting preferred
In addition to the required qualifications a successful RN will
demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
maintain a positive customer-focused attitude toward patients
possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems

The Charge Nurse
will communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team
support and actively participate in shared governance/councils
committed to developing their individual knowledge and skills as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development.
evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift by offering staff guidance and support maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
