What you will be doing:

This position offers support in Constituent Relations with a primary focus on managing tracking and facilitating the Governors Executive Proclamations composing complete correspondence drafts maintaining a caseload and working to resolve constituent inquires. Additionally this position works on special projects and various other administrative duties.

Although our team is small we work with a wide variety of individuals across all state departments. You will have an opportunity to use your skills in writing editing and coordinating to prepare information from the Policy Team Departments and other Staff for preparing the Governors correspondence. This position offers Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) the Supplemental Annuity Plan (SBS) health insurance twelve paid holidays annually and accrued paid leave.

The working environment you can expect:

This position is located on the third floor of the Capitol Building in beautiful downtown Juneau or in the Atwood Building at the heart of downtown Anchorage. Our daily working environment is fast-paced and teamwork oriented. At times this position will cover the front desk greeting constituents and answering calls however that is not the primary focus of this role. There is some overtime required depending on the time of year and office needs.

We are looking for the following knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Writing Skills: Ability to write clearly and independently with minimal typos or grammatical errors.
  • Office Skills:Considerable knowledge of office practices procedures organization and filing systems. Strong familiarity of office equipment including scanners copiers fax machines printers and Windows PC Microsoft applications including Word Excel Outlook and Access.
  • Adaptability:Ability to prioritize tasks as they arise and be flexible to a changing work environment.
  • Communication:Communicates information (for example facts ideas or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Customer Service:Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality work and correspondence; is committed to continuous improvement. A courteous and professional demeanor; customer service experience is preferred.
  • Confidentiality:Strong understanding of working in a confidentialenvironment and ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in evaluating informationand understanding the ramifications of actionstaken.
  • Self-Management: Displays a high level of initiative and commitment towards completing assignments with minimal supervision. Sets goals and commits to achieving them.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and
four years of administrative or clerical office experience.

Or

Any combination of postsecondary education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge skills and abilities of this position.
