Overview
This person supports and helps the overall efficient daily operations of the mailroom. This person sorts and processes incoming and outgoing mail and packages; helps prepare mailings; assists in maintaining the Colleges postage accounts; processes daily monthly and yearly reports; sorts picks and fulfills student packages and student mail; and performs finishing work (e.g. stuffing folding tabbing). Additionally this person delivers mail and packages throughout the institution as needed.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. Required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid and in State Valid Drivers License. Required
EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of office or mail center experience. Required
- Customer service experience. Required
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn postal regulations. Required
- Ability to accept direction by other staff members. Required
- Ability to perform clerical functions. Required
- Ability to use computers with package tracking system and Microsoft Office. Required
- Ability to perform basic math functions. Required
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision. Required
- Ability to run the required computer applications. Required
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under constant deadline pressures to maintain mail schedule. Required
- Ability to read quickly and accurately to verify names and departments. Required
- Attention to detail. Required
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining and updating package receiving and meter systems.
- Monitor and replenish funds for postage meter and shipping software.
- Assist with reports on mail operations.
- Maintain list of department postage accounts.
- Sort and process incoming College mail and packages including business reply mail and postage due mail.
- Sort and process incoming student mail and packages. Pick scan and fulfill student pick-ups of mail and packages.
- Process undeliverable mail.
- Assist with inventory of supplies and materials for mailing equipment envelopes and labels and general office supplies.
- Process the Colleges out-going mail including regular letter/flat mail bulk mailings packages (USPS FedEx UPS etc.) domestic and international Certified Mail etc. (ensuring compliance with federal rules and regulations and identifying hazardous and/or dangerous materials).
- Assist walk-in customers.
- Provide service and information to customers pertaining to mailing issues.
- Assist with maintaining cash drawer.
- Process appropriate paperwork for materials being delivered by Shipping and Receiving.
- Maintain a current listing of faculty and staff mail location changes.
- Receive and process out-going student mail and packages.
- Monitor emails for mail services requests.
- Track shipments/packages as necessary.
- Accurately maintain and file department documents.
- Pick up and deliver mail and packages throughout the College as needed.
- Deliver outgoing mail to the post office as needed.
- Provide routine clerical support to Mail Services and Document Services office: filing telephone coverage typing etc.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist office staff with finishing work i.e. collating binding packaging as requested by the Manager.
- Maintain copier paper for convenience copiers and fill orders as received.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features
- Some lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to noise levels associated with duplicating /printing area.
- Exposure to fumes associated with duplicating /printing area.
- Extensive walking and long hours standing.
- Exposed to varied weather conditions.
Pay Transparency
Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the hourly range is $14.00 - $18.00.
