Join University of Chicago Medicineas a Clinical Pharmacistin theAmbulatory Infusion Center at Silver Cross/Orland Park location.In this role as a Clinical Pharmacist you will assume responsibility and accountability for the provision of safe effective and prompt medication therapy for patients treated at a UChicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center. Through various assignments within the department they provide support of centralized and decentralized medication-use systems as well as deliver optimal medication therapy to patients with a broad range of disease states.

Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $2500

Responsible and accountable for the provision of safe and effective drug therapy and other pharmaceutical care services intended to achieve outcomes related to the cure diagnosis or prevention of disease elimination or reduction of patients symptoms or arresting or slowing of a disease process and improve a patients quality of life in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

University of Chicago Medicine Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains a standard of performance that is in compliance with Joint Commission ASHP practice standards/guidelines federal/state licensing acts and UCH and Pharmaceutical Services Policies and Procedures
  • Interprets evaluates and accurately dispenses all drug orders in the patients best interest as assessed by appropriateness of drug selection contraindications dose side effects drug interactions food interactions duration of therapy route of administration and cost
  • Identifies resolves and prevents potential and actual drug-related problems. Recommends rational therapeutic alternatives as needed to prevent future problems
  • Accurately checks medication orders insuring that patient allergies drug duplication and drug interactions do not exist which contraindicate therapy and that the drug dose is correct. Enter orders directly into computer system if necessary
  • Participates in the orientation education and mentoring of new staff (i.e. pharmacists nurses pharmacy technicians etc.) as needed
  • Performs other duties as requested by senior management

University of Chicago Medicine Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred
  • Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Illinois (complete licensure process within 60 days of employment).
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency preferred. Oncology experience highly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
