Electrical Control Panel and Mechanical Builder

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Control Panel and Mechanical Builder to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the precise assembly and wiring of custom electrical control panels and the mechanical construction of related industrial equipment and machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical schematics mechanical blueprints and industry safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly and wiring: Construct and wire electrical control panels junction boxes and subassemblies by interpreting electrical schematics wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
  • Mechanical assembly: Read and interpret mechanical drawings to assemble mechanical components and subassemblies for industrial machinery.
  • Component installation: Mount and install electrical and mechanical components such as PLCs VFDs motors relays switches sensors and transformers.
  • Enclosure modification: Drill tap and cut holes in metal enclosures and back panels to accommodate component mounting and cable routing.
  • Quality control and testing: Perform point-to-point continuity checks power-up testing and other quality control procedures to ensure proper function and adherence to all specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues including wiring faults during the assembly and testing processes.
  • Adherence to standards: Work in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations such as UL 508A NEC and OSHA.
  • Documentation: Document and annotate any modifications to electrical and mechanical drawings that arise during the construction process.
  • Collaboration: Communicate and coordinate with engineering quality control and production staff to clarify specifications and address technical issues.
  • Work area maintenance: Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical panel building and/or mechanical assembly preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Blueprint proficiency: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics wiring diagrams and mechanical blueprints.
  • Tool proficiency: Proficient in using a wide range of hand and power tools including drills multimeters hydraulic hole punchers and various measuring devices.
  • Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of electrical principles circuits and components as well as mechanical principles. Familiarity with PLC wiring and various AC/DC circuits is preferred.
  • Attention to detail: Strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with engineers and supervisors.
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds stand for long periods and perform physical tasks that involve bending crouching and reaching.
