Marion County Public Works is seeking an enthusiastic safety-minded individual to join our Road & Bridge Operations Division.
This Maintenance Worker/Toll Taker position will join our collaborative Wheatland Ferry operations crew and work alongside the ferry operators to secure the ferry direct traffic collect tolls and make change. They will also assist with opening and closing procedures as well as minor maintenance and repairs of the ferries. When not assigned to a ferry shift this position will join one of our other collaborative operations work groups performing maintenance of roadway features within the Marion County community including bridges/guardrail pavement/drainage signs/pavement markings roadside vegetation litter control and inclement weather response.
Desired experience includes any combination of cash handling customer service and maintenance/construction activities pertaining to buildings facilities landscape or equipment.
This position requires 18 years of age or older possession of a high school diploma (or equivalent) a valid Class-C drivers license and a demonstrated safe driving record of two years or more.
This position is primarily assigned to the Wheatland Ferry and may have to report to other workgroups with alternative work locations and work schedules.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
