Job Summary

Saint Stephens College is seeking enthusiastic casual Venue Operations and AV Technicians to assist with College events and activities providing a high level of audio-visual services to productions presentations performances and events ensuring optimum efficiency and success in delivery.

This role requires a hands on and can do approach to facilitate the implementation of all technical aspects of staging lighting sound and vision. Due to the nature of the role candidates will be required to work flexible hours to suit productions and event times many which will be in the evenings.

This position is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Assist with College events and activities that require audio visual input including live streaming by supporting departments and key individuals with planning and preparation for their intended activities.
  • Assist with the setup operation and maintenance of all sound lighting and AV equipment and services for events and presentations across various venues across the College for events such as Speech Night guest speakers information evenings assemblies family chapels and including outdoor activities such as Sports Days Carols Saint Stephens Day.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to all speakers/presenters for College activities and or events including preparation and guidance of any presentations and/or associated deliverables.
  • Provide support training and development to staff in the setup and use of audio-visual based equipment and peripherals throughout the College
  • Assist with the annual stock take of AV equipment against an audited asset register
  • Assist in ensuring that all hardware (sound AV lighting) and software is operational and hardware is stored appropriately.
  • Maintain an inventory of stock/equipment; providing reports on faulty equipment to ensure hazards are eliminated and replacement and repairs are carried out effectively
  • The application of workplace health and safety requirements in the work areas and with various equipment.
  • Liaise with the Colleges Director of Risk and Compliance to ensure all safety procedures are considered and adhered to for all performances events and activities relating to all technical and mechanical aspects of performances and that all events uphold legislative requirements
  • Provide input into Safe Working Method Statements and Risk Assessments to mitigate risk around the use and operation of technical equipment and show specific processes
  • Operate sound & AV equipment including presenter equipment in all venues incorporating board operation general and theatrical lights to create and reproduce lighting effects for setups performances and events

  • Undertake other reasonable and relevant duties within skills knowledge and capabilities and as directed by the Principal or their representative
  • Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 codes of practice and other safety guidance material

What do I need for the role

  • Relevant qualification at certificate level in Audio Visual
  • Proven experience in venue technical operations including a thorough knowledge of venue lighting audio and live streaming
  • Knowledge and experience with venue/technical specific software
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a larger team especially within tight plotting/bump-in timelines
  • Blue Card in accordance with No Card No Start law as per the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
