Buyer Job Description

Reports to: Director of Purchasing

FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt

Position Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for purchase orders vendor acknowledgements and stock adjustments. This position works cross functionally across the organization to ensure efficient acquisition of all products.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and process replenishment report to manage inventory.
  • Manage purchase order acknowledgements and accuracy.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to identify surplus inventory and develop and implement strategies to reduce excess stock.
  • Review organize and complete stock adjustments.
  • Review and update new item forms kit additions or changes and item records.
  • Review monthly reporting to update lead time and usage discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update vendor information review cycles and product line details as needed.
  • Attend company events trade shows motorsports events and vendor visits and serve as a representative of Lane Automotive.
  • Coordinate vendor pick-up scheduling.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Promote and maintain a clean and safe work environment by complying with procedures policies training and regulations.
  • Ensure established policies and procedures are followed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement project team activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement preferably in a similar industry.
  • Proficiency in SXe Microstrategy and other relevant software systems preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related equipment and software. High proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (clear and concise) through writing speaking active listening and presentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to approach conflicts with vendors customers and colleagues in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to develop and foster business relationships.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Ability to work both independently within a team and cross-functionally with other departments/stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision/guidance and must be self-directed.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Willing to participate in Company designated training.
  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the company handbook.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to practice safe work habits.

Physical Demands:

This office-type position requires sitting standing walking stooping kneeling and using ones hands. It also requires operating basic office equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
