DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Technologist Breast Imaging works in a computerized environment producing approved breast imaging and diagnostic radiography related procedures as directed either independently or in collaboration with a radiologist or other physician; applies radiation safety principles and practices to protect patients staff and the general public; and completes required documentation and administrative tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Certificate in Breast Imaging (CBI) or Certificate in Breast Imaging - Diagnostic (CBI-D).
Graduation from an approved radiology technology program.
Eligible for membership in the CAMRT.
Three (3) years recent related radiological experience including two (2) years performing breast imaging or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated working knowledge of all Breast Imaging protocols applications and equipment with a thorough understanding of the principles of breast imaging and mammography including positioning pathology current technology digital mammography and quality control as well as patient care techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiology systems such as PACS and RIS.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to meet the requirements of the job.
- Ability to operate related equipment such as a computer.
