Job Duties:

UW-Superior (UWS) seeks a full-time 9-month teaching assistant professor for the new RN-to-BSN nursing program. This position is primarily responsible for teaching academic courses for enrolled nursing students including those students in the Nursing collaborative program. The ideal candidate will bring in excellent clinical skills and online teaching/learning experience in addition to effective written and oral communication skills. The successful candidate will also participate in activities for Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation and work collaboratively with the Director engaging in assessment and curricular improvements. Other responsibilities of this position include engaging in the Nursing program Department of Health and Human Performance and UWS activities in student recruitment efforts advising and mentoring students. This role requires strong online teaching skills with a commitment to excellence in nursing education and student success.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit
  • Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations
  • Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline
  • May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction
  • Facilitates classroom online and/or laboratory instruction including assessment of student performance
  • Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study
  • Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction

Department: Department of Health and Human Performance

Full-Time: 100% Instructional Academic Staff Ongoing 9-month appointment one vacancy

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement encompassing both on-campus and remote responsibilities. Applicants must reside in either Wisconsin or Minnesota at the time of hire to be considered.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum and Program Development:
    • Assist the Nursing Program Director with continuous assessment and suggest course revisions for program improvement.
    • Integrate innovative online teaching strategies student-engaged activities and community-enhanced learning opportunities in nursing courses.
    • Work with the Nursing Program Director to ensure a high-quality educational experience for students.
    • Engage in a positive and collaborative work environment that supports faculty development creativity and scholarship.
  • Student Success and Support:
    • Assist the Nursing Program Director with academic advising and career mentorship to students enrolled in the Nursing program.
    • Assist the Nursing Program Director with student recruitment retention and graduation.
  • Accreditation and compliance:
    • Assist the Nursing Program Director with activities for accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Community and Professional Engagement:
    • Assist in representing the nursing program on campus and in the community including educational partners healthcare organizations advisory boards or professional associations as needed.
    • Participate in departmental and institutional governance.

Other Duties:

  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the United States or attainment of a Wisconsin RN license no later than December 31 2025.
  • Masters degree (MSN) or doctorate degree (DNP or PhD) from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice issues and community-engaged learning.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as an instructor in an accredited nursing program within the last five (5) years (may include teaching practicum in a graduate degree program).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Eligible for health care provider CPR certification and up-to-date immunizations as required by clinical agencies.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience with online asynchronous education delivery.
  • Content knowledge in Nursing economics health care policy and Indigenous health practices.
  • Experience advising and mentoring RNs or undergraduate nursing students.
  • Clinical teaching with population health or in a senior level capstone clinical course
  • Minnesota and Wisconsin RN licensure.
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and data management experience.
  • Experience integrating technology (artificial intelligence) to enhance teaching and learning.

Compensation: Salary range for this position is: $80000 - $88000 annually.
