Job Summary

  • Opportunity for an experienced Programmer to join a collaborative team and work on developing systems genetics technology.
  • Based at the QEII Medical Centre Nedlands.
  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
  • Base salary range: $95231 $100643 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

This position is based at the QEII Medical Centre (within the Diabetes Laboratory) and located at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and the UWA Centre for Medical Research (CMR). The Laboratory is focused on developing systems genetics technology which integrate multiple levels of data with underlying genetic information allowing the definition of networks interacting genes.

About the opportunity

  • You will manage databases and write software in conjunction with the Director of the Centre for Diabetes Research and other researchers.
  • Contribute to development of programs for analysing genetic data via parallel programming.
  • Manage debug and improve code.

About you

  • Degree qualification in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Proven ability in C/C Python desirable MySQL R SPSS Excel. Experience in other statistical packages is an advantage.
  • Experience in Parallel Programming (MPI XGRID CUDA).
  • Ability to analyse and interpret research data.
  • Ability to learn new technology and programming languages.
