Job Summary

Adelphi is seeking a dedicated part-time Psychiatrist to provide onsite psychiatric care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at a facility in Nueces County Texas. The Psychiatrist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team conducting evaluations managing medications and developing treatment plans to ensure high-quality person-centered care.

Requirements
MD or DO with an active unrestricted license to practice in Texas
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Current DEA registration and NPI number required
Proficient in computer systems and electronic health records (EHR)
Minimum of 3 years of psychiatric experience preferred
Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or mental illness strongly preferred
Must complete all compliance and credentialing requirements prior to start date no exceptions
Must pass a urine drug screening and FBI fingerprint background check
Valid government-issued photo ID required

Responsibilities:
Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations.
Document all clinical encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Collaborate with the medical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with the Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement.
Provide medication management including justification and monitoring of psychotropic medication use.
Manage acute psychiatric episodes authorize emergency medications or restraints and coordinate hospitalizations when necessary.
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team (IDT) meetings and contribute to individualized care planning.
Ensure adherence to all applicable federal state and internal clinical standards (DOJ ICF-IID etc.).
Provide consultation and support to behavioral health and direct care staff.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Interact appropriately and compassionately with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Complete all required agency-specific and state-mandated training prior to assuming full duties.
Participate in emergency preparedness and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activities as assigned.
