Food Bank for the Heartland has connected our communities with food resources and hope since 1981. The fight against hunger is our ongoing collaborative effort. We work with individuals organizations food manufacturers and distributors grocery stores the USDA and Feeding America to procure food and purchase food to supplement donations. Through the collective power of our leadership employees partners volunteers and donors we can reach more communities serve more people and address food insecurity more directly and effectively. In Short:
The Network and Community Support Representative will support the mission and strategic plan of Food Bank for the Heartland to reduce food insecurity through the support of food access strategies. This role will work to build capacity within FBFHs distribution network by supporting expansion and improved practices with our existing addition this role will cultivate contacts to increase awareness and collaborative opportunities including non-traditional (non-food) partnerships.

Your Mission:
  • Partner and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key point of contact for network partners in assigned region of FBFHs service area by engaging with the partners on an ongoing basis. Ensure there is regular and effective communication that meets or exceeds guidelines set by the supervisor and document and file all significant communications. Actively listen to individuals at various levels to understand hunger issues affecting their communities fostering engagement in community-level coalitions or partner associations.
  • Program and Strategy Support: Support programs and innovative food distribution strategies aimed at addressing food insecurity ensuring efficient and equitable distribution. Brainstorm plan and manage activities with partner organizations to support hunger relief efforts with a focus on increasing food distribution and addressing local needs. Support regional strategies tailored to urban suburban rural and remote hunger issues ensuring underserved communities (based on factors like culture race gender identity etc.) have access to healthy food options. Align with FBFHs food distribution plan promoting and upselling products particularly slow-moving or perishable items.
  • Communication and Advocacy: Effectively communicate FBFHs mission to raise awareness of food insecurity in Nebraska and western Iowa advocating for hunger relief and promotion the organizations goals. Increase community awareness of hunger issues address stigma and engage in advocacy to support the mission.
  • Training Compliance and Monitoring: Provide training education and monitoring to ensure partner and program compliance with regulations from USDA Feeding America and other governing bodies. Ensure proper documentation of regulatory standards including 501(c)3 status food safety standards and equitable distribution practices.
  • Product and Resource Management: Review and analyze partners product usage identifying opportunities for expanding or diversifying food products offered to meet community needs. Support and evaluate product offerings to meet both the needs of partner organizations and the individuals they serve with a particular focus on perishable products and improving food access.
  • Collaborate partner support and cultivate relationships. Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Commitment to the FBFH mission and values.

  • Availability for Travel.

Your Story:
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in providing customer service driven outcomes
  • Experience can substitute for education.
  • lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization is a plus.
