To:All Teaching and Administrative PersonnelBrockton Public SchoolsFrom:Kathleen Moran Director of Human ResourcesSubject:Supervisory Educators Needed - Structured Guidance and Supports: Pathway to meeting competency review requirement for Massachusetts Dates/Hours: Exact dates to be part of the districts support of Special Education licensure requirements a 150-hour field-based internship process has been developed. This process will allow candidates seeking to add an Initial or Professional license or candidates seeking a Provisional license to demonstrate competency in subject matter knowledge requirements during a field experience. Supervisory educators will be hired to provide the licensure candidate guidance and support throughout the process. Supervisory Educators will be asked to give feedback to the licensure candidate about their demonstration of the subject matter knowledge requirements. The Supervisory Educator will guide the licensure candidate through a variety of field-based experiences that include integral components of any programs for the preparation of educatorsMinimum Qualifications: MA license sought by candidate- Initial or Professional have at least 3 full years of experience under that with mentoring educators preferred but not have a minimum rating of proficient skills in communication organization and lesson plan preparation including accommodations and modifications for students with disabilitiesIn order to serve in the role the supervising educator must be willing to provide ongoing modeling instruction and support to the candidate. The supervising educator must also conduct an evaluation of the candidates competency. The process is formalized through 3 meetings: initial formative and : one-one-one with assigned participants at least three times during the process. and review sources of evidence to determine competency targeted feedback to the candidate throughout the process regarding progress and areas of continued growth the DESE designed performance rubric to support the candidate evidence by observing practice examining work products and student work reviewing the resource guide talking with the candidate and reviewing collected evidence a holistic evaluation of the candidates demonstrated skills across the indicators to determine Proficient communicate expectations and due dates to participant thoughtful conversations throughout the process participants with appropriate support in collecting evidence participant meeting attendance and feedback to the designated Administrator Compensation: Per ContractFund Code to be Charged: IDEA Grant 0240The Brockton Public School System does not discriminate on the basis of race religion color national origin age sex veterans status sexual orientation or disability in admission to access to treatment in or employment in its programs.
