GFL is looking for a student to join us for an 8 month term as an Environmental Co-op with an interest in sustainability greenhouse gas emissions accounting and reporting and circular economy to play an important role in supporting GFLs Renewables Environmental Risk and Sustainability team.
The job will be based out GFLs Vaughan office for an 8 month term January - August with an opportunity for a hybrid approach to in-person and remote work.
The role will primarily be supporting corporate sustainability reporting at GFL including tasks such as:
Quantification of greenhouse gas emissions in support of our annual greenhouse gas emissions inventory including emissions estimates for activities such as fleet fuel use landfill gas emissions and electricity consumption.
Data gathering and analysis related to greenhouse gas emissions ESG-metrics and other sustainability reporting
Supporting Sustainability Value Initiatives and Renewable Energy projects
Green event planning and support of Employee Sustainability Committees
Other tasks may include lifecycle emissions calculations and support of our environmental risk management process
Requirements:
Enrolled in or recently completed post-Secondary education in environmental sciences environmental or chemical engineering or the equivalent of education and experience
Intermediate to advanced skill-level with Microsoft Excel
Experience with PowerBI is considered an asset
Self-starter action oriented with excellent communication problem-solving and analytical skills
Monday to Friday work week with availability to work weekends when required
