Due to continued rapid growth and expansion of the water group in Ontario we are seeking a Senior Process Engineer Water and Wastewater Treatment (facilities) to be based in the Kitchener-Waterloo or Greater Toronto / Golden Horseshoe Area who can provide senior leadership and oversight of municipal water and wastewater treatment plants and associated infrastructure.

Due to continued rapid growth and expansion of the water group in Ontario we are seeking a Senior Process Engineer Water and Wastewater Treatment (facilities) to be based in the Kitchener-Waterloo or Greater Toronto / Golden Horseshoe Area who can provide senior leadership and oversight of municipal water and wastewater treatment plants and associated infrastructure.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Overseeing and leading the technical approach and its execution of projects.
  • Communicating professionally with clients sub consultants and contractors.
  • Developing strong internal global network of technical experts
  • Providing thought leadership to position GHD at the forefront of sustainable wastewater treatment in both local and global markets
  • Attracting developing and supporting retention of our technical talent
  • Ensuring project deliverables meet or exceed GHDs internal and external client quality objectives.
  • Supporting our water practice business development to continue our expansion of water infrastructure market share in Ontario. Activities will involve participating in client relationship development project capture planning and preparing proposals.
  • Uncover emerging issues or needs identifying potential causes barriers and key stakeholders as well as related issues.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing business practices then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organizations change management program. Involves working with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity innovation and collaboration across business units such as idea generation platforms jam sessions and hackathons.
  • Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example in terms of functionality performance aesthetics and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
  • Analyze information draft engineering standards and specifications and evaluate the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to ensure work of the required quality is delivered and to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers contractors and consultants.
  • Develop policies and processes create best practices set up case studies and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice.
  • Discuss and recommend more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/application software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users needs.
  • Lead and oversee the provision of professional supervision to ensure that there is effective professional supervision that supports practitioners professional development and embeds reflective practice.
  • Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes products or business unit structure.
  • Analyze and evaluate the feasibility and relevance of proposed complex products and services and develop and amend as necessary with guidance from senior colleagues. May also be responsible for supervising activities performed by a product development or specialist team.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
  • Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Ontario Professional Engineer (.) or equivalent from another jurisdiction that can be converted to Ontario licensure
  • Ideally 15 years in multi-discipline wastewater treatment projects.
  • Proven industry leadership through conference presentations professional association participation and other similar value-generating activities that support business development
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modeling systems/programs/software for water and wastewater processes.
  • Proven track record in business development project capture planning and proposal writing.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership of water and wastewater treatment projects through planning study design and construction phases.
  • Industry leader level knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes is required
  • Demonstrated experience performing QA/QC of consulting deliverables including written reports and design documents such as drawings.
  • Experience with design management is an asset but not required
  • Ability to guide cost estimating of treatment infrastructure
  • Extensive experience in preparation of presentations and reports.
  • Ability to liaise with other disciplines professionals clients and third parties as needed in the execution of wastewater infrastructure designs.
  • Excellent verbal presentation and report writing skills.
  • Excellent problem solving decision making and teamwork skills

Salary range: $145215-$190215

The salary range is based on the preferred work location. If the selected candidates location differs changes to the salary range may apply.
