Job Summary
Overview
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm or 6:30am-3pm dependent on the surgical schedule
Assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the Operating Room Central sterile processing and preop/pacu services utilizing quality cost effective patient care principles. Provides support and direction to the surgical services team. Supervises supports and develops unit staff. As a member of the Surgical Services team assists in providing perioperative nursing care to the surgical patient. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical psych/social spiritual educational safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area).

Responsibilities
- Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance of high-quality cost-effective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospitals budgetary guidelines.
- Provides clinical leadership by directing coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner allowing for flexibility.
- Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Remains competent and available to participate in patient care pertinent to clinical specialty.
- Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care. Remains current on law/regulation changes recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses of action to ensure compliance.
- Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe efficient operation of the department as needed.
- Assists in developing annual budget and takes appropriate action when appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources.
- Implements evidence-based practice strategies to meet the patient care needs. Assists in the achievement of quality improvement objectives and takes necessary modifications for attainment of goals.
- Participates in interviews coaching and evaluation of team member performance with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to interpret apply and follow HR policies/procedures fairly and consistently.
- Publishes a timely fair consistent and impartial staffing schedule that meets the department need.
- Supervises supports evaluates and guides staff providing appropriate input for job performance.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors Degree
Experience:
- One year experience as a registered nurse
License(s)/Certifications:
- Current Iowa License as a registered nurse
