We are seeking Mixtec Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Mixtec a group of indigenous languages spoken primarily in Oaxaca Puebla and Guerrero Mexico is a rare but high-demand language often required in asylum and immigration cases.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Mixtec English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews hearings and asylum proceedings.
Interpret accurately impartially and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics standards.
Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Mixtec (any regional variety) and English.
2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration community asylum or NGO/government strongly preferred).
Cultural knowledge of indigenous Mexican communities.
Familiarity with interpreter ethics confidentiality and neutrality.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
