Middle & High School Band Director Maternity Leave Coverage
Dates: December 22 or January 5 April 3
Schedule: Full-time MondayFriday 8:15 AM3:45 PM
Position Overview:
The Amherst Regional Music Department is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Band Director to provide maternity leave coverage for both middle and high school ensembles. This position includes conducting multiple grade-level bands and high school performance groups supporting student musicians across grades 712 and participating in scheduled performances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the 7th Grade Band (23 times per week 50-minute blocks).
- Direct the 8th Grade Band (23 times per week 50-minute blocks).
- Direct the High School Concert Band (daily 75-minute block).
- Direct the High School Jazz Band (daily 75-minute block through January 16).
- Teach the High School Steel Drum elective (daily 75-minute block beginning January 20; prior steel drum experience not required).
- Conduct one 712 Band Concert on March 25.
- Conduct one off-campus High School Chamber Concert on February 12.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Music Education or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
- Massachusetts DESE teaching license in Instrumental Music (512) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience teaching instrumental music at the middle and/or high school level.
- Strong communication collaboration and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
