Job Summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient centered 60% (24hours a week)Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in our Cedar RapidsDermatology Clinic. This position supports our team-based care where youll spend more time with patients and expand your physician-support and administrative duties increases the efficiency and productivity of the physician and anticipates future needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic. Accurately documents events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. Our team specialize in the care of everyone in the family in every generation from birth for life.

Our Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)provide full medical and surgical services from general dermatology care to specialty services to patients with skin diseases. We use the latest techniques to care for a range of conditions affecting the skin. We also work closely with you to take precautions against skin cancer infections dry skin and the aging effects of sun exposure. Our services include treatment of cosmetic skin problems such as age spots and birthmarks and the removal of unwanted hair and tattoos. We offer chemical peels Botox injections and dermal fillers. We also offer general dermatology services and we offer quick scheduling for appointments.

Our Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)accompany the physicians or medical providers into the examination rooms in order to transcribe the clinicians and care teams encounter with the patients in real time. They accurately and thoroughly documentthe encounter with our patients as it is being performed by the providers which may include documentation in the following sections: problem list history of present illness review of systems physical exam assessment and plan procedures and treatments performed by team patient education orders medications referrals explanations of risks and benefits and instructions for self-care and follow-up.

This position will mainly support our Cedar Rapids Dermatology Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

Duties to include:

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing more complex situations performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.

    Schedule: Variable hours accomplished between Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM 5:00 PM; no weekends no on-call and no holidays.

    Location: Cedar Rapids IA(and surround clinics/locations based on clinic needs)

    Pay Grade: 11

    Salary: $44557.92 - $66377.52 (at 100% time): Hourly 21.34 - 31.79 (based on years of experience)

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements

    • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.

    Special Qualifications

    • Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
    • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.
    • Ability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours.

    HighlyDesirable Qualifications

    • The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.
    • Previous Dermatology experience
    • Strong typing skills are highly desired

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Previous medical documentation experience
    • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
    • Previous EPIC Experience
    • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.

    Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.
