This position is being recruited for in Fairbanks.


What you will be doing:

Enjoy working in a friendly work environment completing a variety of tasks and repetitive projects supporting a team environment. Tasks associated with this position include but are not limited to: conducting surveillance of homes during PM2.5 curtailment episodes and document non-compliance with wood stove use restrictions; processing of documentations such as pictures and preparing Advisory and Compliance letters to citizens and assisting with formal enforcement activities. Conducting data entry and scanning of routine technical documents submitted by industry. Conduct intake of document and filing review of technical reports dealing with the public and local stakeholders on a daily basis in a professional context occasional field work operating basic hand tools.


An essential function of the job is to respond and investigate public air quality complaints.

The incumbent assists with the enforcement of regulations associated with curtailment on the use of solid fuel devices when the air quality is expected to be poor in Fairbanks and/or North Pole. Technical documentation handling such as assuring completeness of information submitted filing and data entry into an electronic database.

This is a performance orientated position based on your delivery of a quality product on a known schedule. Some flexibility in work hours may be possible. The daily work is technical and science based that requires decision and project/time management skills.


The working environment you can expect:

Incumbent will generally work in an office setting with some field work. Under general supervision this position performs a variety of functions associated with document handling public complaint investigation and enforcement of local state and federal air quality regulations applicable to home heating appliances.

  • Adaptability:Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Computer Skills:Uses computers software applications databases and automated systems to accomplish work.

Special Notice:
  • Incumbent will be required to periodically conduct surveillance observing smoke from wood stove stacks in the FNSB and conducting public complaint investigations.
  • A valid Drivers License is required

Minimum Qualifications

One year of advanced clerical experience in a resource management or resource development organization; environmental oversight or evaluation organization; or organization responsible for the transport or storage of hazardous materials where the clerical duties included identifying environmental requirements and explaining programs or services.

Substitution:
Post-secondary education from an accredited college in Environmental or Natural Resource studies; a physical biological or natural science; planning; or engineering will substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours/4 quarter hours equal one month).
