Position Title: Part-Time Financial Coordinator (Imperial County)
Company Description: NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nonprofit organization that provides free education support services and advocacy to improve the quality of life of everyone affected by mental health conditions.
Program Description: The Adult Re-Entry Program is our newest program in Imperial County where our Peer Case Managers and Housing Navigators provide wrap-around re-entry services and housing assistance to adults with a history of incarceration.
Primary Responsibilities/Function:
The Financial Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Financial Coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the Adult Re-entry Grant (ARG) program. This position ensures compliance with contract requirements by maintaining accurate documentation and coding for client expense requests. This position works closely with Program Manager and Case Managers to facilitate timely and appropriate approvals proper documentation and processing of payments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process and approve client requests verify eligibility and complete necessary paperwork in accordance with ARG contract guidelines.
- Review databases to verify eligibility and compliance with assistance limits.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with case managers and other staff as required.
- Monitor client spending to ensure limits are not exceeded and services are utilized effectively.
- Collaborate with Case Managers to ensure proper documentation and coding for financial transactions.
- Ensure property ownership aligns with rent documentation.
- Maintain accurate billing records and data entry to meet contract standards.
- Provide backup support in processing checks as needed.
- Respond to emails and phone inquiries providing guidance and support to team members
- Assist the Lead Financial Coordinator and Program Manager with program audits financial reporting and compliance tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Accountability: Reports to the Lead Financial Coordinator.

Minimum Requirements:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Office: Outlook Word Excel) and web navigation.
- Intermediate experience in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in financial coordination or administrative support preferred.
- Demonstrated success in completing accurate and timely documentation.
- Familiarity with grant-funded programs or nonprofit financial processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Positive viewpoint towards individuals who have a history of justice involvement incarceration homelessness and behavioral health conditions as well as sensitivity to issues faced by individuals involved in adult reentry programs.
- Knowledge of and use of recovery language preferred.
- Personal lived experience or with a family member or loved one with a history of incarceration mental health conditions substance use or homelessness is preferred.
