We are seeking Soninke Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Soninke also known as Maraka or Sarakole is a Mande language spoken in Mali Senegal Mauritania Ivory Coast and Gambia and is a rare but important language often required for asylum and immigration proceedings.
- Provide real-time Soninke English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers applicants and stakeholders.
- Interpret with accuracy impartiality and professionalism in immigration legal and asylum contexts.
- Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
- Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
- Participate in training compliance refreshers and QA audits.
- Native or near-native fluency in Soninke and English.
- 2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration asylum NGO community or government strongly preferred).
- Strong cultural knowledge of West African Soninke-speaking communities.
- Familiarity with interpreter ethics confidentiality and impartiality standards.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
- Competitive pay: $3038/hour (rare-language premium).
