Overview
Under the direct supervision of anatomical pathology management retrieves and accessions anatomic pathology specimens. Prepares fluid and tissue specimens for evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieves surgical pathology and cytology specimens from designated locations.
- Accessions cytopathology and/or surgical pathology specimens.
- Checks accuracy of specimen labeling; identifies and initiates steps to resolve discrepancies.
- Answers phones and responds to customer inquiries and requests.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Experience: One year of laboratory experience is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Effective verbal and communication skills required.
