Key Responsibilities
Supervision of MRI staff a. Coordinates the work assigned to each area and monitors the work of the staff: develops and assigns daily schedule of assigned personnel and ensures accurate record keeping. b. Observes and assists technical and ancillary staff in the performance of job duties including providing suggestions for improved work efficiency and quality. c. Performs preparation of control and quality control and assessment tasks (QA/QC). d. Ensures the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies procedures and professional standards to support operational excellence. e. Serves as the Clinical Coordinator for MRI students. Evaluation and Implementation of Appropriate Care a. Under the direction of the Radiologist and the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) anatomically positions the patient and performs imaging procedures utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). b. Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes. c. After reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patients abilities and condition selects the most appropriate patient care plan. d. Selects appropriate shielding devices and appropriate immobilization devices. e. Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media. f. Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure such as medications or insufficient patient preparation. g. Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested. Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate. h. Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts from the patient and from the medical record which may impact the examination. i. Monitors patient and equipment during procedures accurately documents exam times (start and stop) patient reactions or problems and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor. j. Demonstrates ability to effectively perform advanced MRI angiography to include bilateral run-offs and the required reformatting with additions and subtraction of raw data. k. Able to use extensive knowledge of anatomy physiology and resources to obtain the maximum diagnostic image (injectors respiratory gating software patient vitals monitor etc.). l. Demonstrates understanding of and responsibility for magnetic resonance safety compliance requirements. Quality of Care a. The technologist provides evidence-based care so as to prevent the development of a Healthcare Acquired Condition and hospital readmissions. b. The technologist practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. c. The technologist complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions. d. Comply with all regulatory organizational and departmental statutes policies and procedures. Patient Satisfaction: a. Regularly applies AIDET (Acknowledge Introduce Duration Explanation Thank You) as well as other evidence-based behaviors when taking care of patients. Shows empathy care to patients and family members present. b. Actively helps the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal. c. Demonstrates regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings. Absences must be communicated as soon as practically possible. d. Ensures all licensure competencies training and education are completed in a timely manner. e. Participates in and encourage continuous process improvement. |
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of Radiologic Technologist program Certification/Licensure: BLS certification through the American Heart Association Current registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) if registered through (ARRT) Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) OR Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMIT) MRI Certification (ARRT) required within one year post educational cross training within organization. Experience: Minimum of one-year experience as an MRI technologist On the job training with outside didactic education i.e. Galveston College |
Preferences
Education: Education preferred from an educational institution approved by ARRT Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) or the American College of Radiology (ACR) Experience: Previous experience as a supervisor or lead |

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK REQUIREMENTS: a. Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. b. Effective oral and written communication skills compliant with KHI vision mission and values. c. Able to manage technical business equipment i.e. phone fax computer etc. d. Able to assist with the movement/manipulation of a patient and equipment weighing up to and over 300 lbs. e. Able to care for patients with infectious diseases. f. Able to sit stand walk and bend for the duration of the scheduled shift. g. Able to demonstrate concentration and visual and auditory acuity to watch monitors and follow instructions during exams. |
