Community Impact Officer
Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN)
Pay rate: $27.50 - $28.00/ hour
The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill our Community Impacts Officer position.
The Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) is a program that operates as a support system for youth programming and as a catalyst for youth leadership development.
The Community Impact Officer is responsible for the strategic engagement of Maine communities. This work aims to strengthen the network of organizational partners supporting youth through collaborative learning opportunities direct youth programming and resource development. The Community Impact Officer works closely with youth and community leaders to collaboratively plan and facilitate the Maine Youth Leadership Conference as well as other regional initiatives. This position is responsible for adult and organizational learning offerings through MYAN and responsive program strategies in partnership with MYAN leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and implement community impact projects related to youth leadership wellness and workforce initiatives.
- Foster meaningful relationships with diverse organizational partners.
- Establish and manage a cohort of facilitators that contribute to the Maine Youth Leadership Conference and other convenings.
- Drive the development of MYANs learning initiatives; this will include external-facing trainings and other interactive facilitated offerings as needed.
- Identify and disseminate emerging best practices related to positive youth development social emotional learning developmental relationships and restorative practices.
- Partner with MYAN leadership to identify and secure funding to support the sustainability of programs.
SUPERVISION
- Supervises the following positions:
Program Facilitators
- May supervise the following program participants:
Youth participants in statewide programming;and
MYAN interns and volunteers
Schedule: Full Time 40 hours per week hourly paid position.
Some weekend and overnights may be required.
Location: Office located in Portland ME.
Opportunity to work partially remote in a hybrid schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in education or human services related field (e.g. Social Work Psychology or Public Health) with 5 years experience in relevant field (e.g. education public health or youth development) preferred.
- 5 years experience that includes demonstrated excellence and regular practice with some combination of the following is required: data collection and analysis workshop facilitation positive youth development practices and teaching/learning with both adolescents and adult learners.
- Preferred knowledge of and experience in restorative practices development relationships and/or social justice work in some combination.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Facilitates creative problem solving to emerging work challenges in partnership with teammates.
- Familiarity with and/or connection to a community within the service area is preferred.
- Ability to travel throughout the state of Maine including some overnights.
- Position requires some evening and weekend hours.
- Extensive knowledge of positive youth development youth-adult partnerships policy work with youth prevention and public health practices.
- Experience working with diverse populations includingengaging geographically isolated youth indigenous youth LGBTQ youth youth of color and/or youth living in poverty.
- Excellent facilitation and training skills with both youth and adults in multiple settings.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Competent in working with multiple partners and in soliciting input.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in interpersonal communication.
- Exhibits extensive software skills and Internet research abilities.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.
- Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
- Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with frequent physically active trainings and meetings with youth and adults driving typing and occasionally lifting material weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
