Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Deputy Registrar the Functional Analyst will:

  • Reviews and understands user documentation or/and release notes to analyse impact of new functionality or enhancements in the university integrated student information system.
  • Manages software/projects - documentation planning and process re-engineering.
  • Develops executes and documents testing plans and procedures to accommodate the new functionality or enhancements authorizes the promotion of new functionality to the production environment.
  • Develops new processes in conjunction with end users. Identifies needs and designs processes within integrated student information systems to improve efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains training materials such as Power Point presentations end user documentation (procedure manuals) and quick reference guides.
  • Delivers training and follow up sessions to the end users in groups or individually.
  • Maintains procedure manuals and checklists specific to Saint Marys University. These materials document operational requirements; daily weekly monthly or annually within the integrated student information systems.
  • Communicates and trains end users regarding new functionality and features included in upgrades or releases; including new reports and procedures created internally.
  • Develops solutions to both ad hoc and re-occurring reporting requirements.
  • Analyzes complex requests for ad hoc reports and determines best approach for providing the data/reports.
  • Determines security profiles of Banner Student systems in order to provide necessary level of access while ensuring appropriate confidentiality.
  • As designate authorizes the granting of access to create the security profiles.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Functional Analyst you will have:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Commerce or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Experience with Banner CRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is considered an asset.
