Total Safety is looking for a Fire Alarm Systems Designer to join their safety conscious team! The Fire Alarm Systems Designer designs Fire Alarm Systems per applicable codes standards and customer specifications using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software under direct supervision of senior designers. Work includes generating submittal construction drawings detail drawings fire alarm system calculations system operating sequences and equipment lists for review by authorities. Responsible for area and support of fabrication construction and installation of systems. Work also includes participating in project meetings and interfacing with both internal and external customers.â

Expectation of Job Functions:
- Create detailed drawings using AutoCAD.â
- Perform calculations as required by codes and/or manufacturer instructions.â
- Ability to select components to meet customer needs specifications and for industrial applications.â
- Work closely with the Total Safety engineering staff Construction Manager Project Managers Sales and other disciplined engineers and designers.â
- Design a basic fire alarm system with little or no supervision.
- Assists others as needed.âââ
Experience:ââ
- At least five years of experience in fire alarm system inspections testing and installation in oil refinery or related industrial applications.ââ
- Prefer knowledge of Notifiers Onyx series fire alarm panels and their components.ââ
- AutoCAD experience required.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain licenses and certifications necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.â
- Must be able to travel.âââ
- Must be able to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials) card and pass any required safety testing including classes such as Basic Plus OSHA 10 hour etc.â
Working Environment:âââââ
Combination of office shop indoor and outdoor industrial environments. May be frequently exposed to cold hot wet humid outside weather conditions and vibration. Works in customer environment. May be exposed to high pressure chemicals and traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.ââ

Two-year certificate from college or technical school in related course work or bachelors degree preferred.ââ
State of Texas issued FAL (Fire Alarm License) and NICET Level II or higher certification in fire alarm systems required with an expectation to pursue further professional development by obtaining additional NICET accreditation and/or State licensing.ââ
