PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking aGolf Shop Associateto join our team which is part of the Parks Recreation and Open Space Department.

If you view customer service as the ultimate hole-in-one where every interaction is an opportunity to make someones day we need you on our team. This role is more than just working in a golf shop; you are the Director of First Impressions for our city-owned course.

Forget the complex terminology and focus on the fundamentals: the customer experience must always be the priority if we want to be successful. You also understand that as a government employee it is our job to serve the public.

When things get stressful you handle it like a seasoned pro draining a clutch three-footerwith a calming influence and tact. You also have an open mind and can look at situations from multiple perspectives to creatively solve problems.

Daily you will perform functions associated with our operations primarily focused on assisting golfers with check-in and making reservations. You will help keep the flow of play running smoothly on the course and occasionally you may assist with outside service duties when needed.

The hiring salary is $16.00/hour.

This job announcement is to collect applications from candidates for current and future Golf Shop Associate Outside Services positions. Applicants will be contacted only when a position need is identified and qualifications match the positions needs.

This position is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee) where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs functions in person and over the phone related to golfers checking in to play making reservations or general informational inquiries. Daily functions include but are not limited to providing exceptional customer service cash handling POS and reservation systems assist with customer inquiries/concerns communicate issues appropriately with maintenance and outside service staff provide retail tournament and club/league assistance and monitor flow of play on the course
  • Assist with various programming and or marketing activities for the course and Golf Division
  • Those with golf instruction experience may be asked to help with instructional programming
  • May be issued keys and asked to help with opening and closing responsibilities
  • Will help with outside service duties when need arises
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Previous customer service experience working in a golf shop or similar retail environment

Knowledge:

  • Awareness that the customer experience must be the priority if we are to be successful
  • Understanding that as a government employee it is our job to serve the public

  • Awareness of generally accepted cash handling best practices
  • General knowledge of the traditions surrounding the game of golf

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Colorado Drivers License (at the discretion of the Supervisor) within three months of being hired

WORKING CONDITIONS

Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium - work that involves lifting/carrying no more than 50 pounds with or without assistance at a time
    • Continuous standing and walking
    • Occasional sitting pushing pulling bending carrying stooping
    • Clear vision to read computer monitor and written documents
    • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
    • Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard golf carts and misc. equipment

Work Environment:

  • Works primarily indoors but may work outdoors assisting customers and employees with daily play and/or programming activities in varying weather conditions

Equipment Used:

  • Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email internet Word Excel and various golf specific software programs
  • Driving a golf cart will be a frequent requirement of this position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle cell phone tools etc.) in the course of their employment.
