Webelieve materials are not recycled until theyve been made into new products. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper cardboard glass plastics and metals from households and businesses and locally remanufacture them back into new sustainable packaging. From cardboard boxes water bottles and jam jars to food and beverage cans we are using recycled content to power Australia and New Zealands packaging industry.
Role Details:
Location: Smithfield Sydney NSW
Reports to: Plant Manager rPlastics Smithfield
Division: Visy rPlastics
Specialist laboratory role supporting quality compliance and product innovation
What Youll Do:
Conduct chemical and physical analysis of recycled plastic materials using techniques such as FTIR DSC GC-FID HPLC UV-VIS IR NMR and TGA.
Perform routine and non-routine QC testing to ensure compliance with internal specifications customer requirements and EFSA/USFDA standards.
Analyse mechanical and polymer properties including tensile strength viscosity particle size and rheology.
Develop and validate new analytical methods SOPs and provide training to laboratory personnel.
Support production teams with troubleshooting process improvement and root cause analysis.
Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Uphold safety environmental and regulatory compliance in all laboratory activities.
What You Will Bring:
Degree in Chemistry Materials Science or related discipline (or equivalent lab experience).
Experience in chemical analysis within plastics polymers or manufacturing industries preferred.
Knowledge of analytical techniques such as FTIR DSC GC-FID HPLC and other lab instrumentation.
High attention to detail and data accuracy.
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset.
Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and production teams.
Commitment to safety quality and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
Practical experience in operations or process improvement environment.
Experience in packaging or recycled plastics sector.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
