Job Summary: | This role offers an exceptional opportunity to conduct high-impact research focused on uncovering the underlying causes of diabetes with the goal of advancing treatment and prevention strategies. You will collaborate closely with leading scientists at the Barbara Davis Diabetes Center and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology contributing to groundbreaking discoveries in diabetes research. The projects will explore pancreatic beta cell biology to uncover how beta cells contribute to autoimmune processes in type 1 diabetes and to functional impairment in type 2 particular one line of investigation will examine how mRNA translation regulation shapes the production of neoantigens that drive autoimmune activation in type 1 this role you will design develop and perform experiments using cellular systems islets animal models and human samples to explore key molecular mechanismsincluding mRNA translation protein expression beta-cell function and immune cell infiltration. Key Responsibilities: Maintain islet and cell cultures Maintain necessary animal cohorts Design and perform experiments primarily in molecular biology Organize data and present to the group Contribute to manuscript preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals |

Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field Three (3) years professional level research experience Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in biology molecular biology chemistry genetics or related field Four (4) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory mammalian cell culture and animal physiology Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Expert knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques Expert ability to analyze and solve complex problems Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution Outstanding customer service skills Knowledge of basic human anatomy physiology medical terminology Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information Expert level knowledge of mammalian cell culture genome editing next generation sequencing RNA/DNA quantification using ddPCR qRT-PCR protein expression and detection in vivo delivery of genome editing agents |

Anticipated Pay Range: | The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $62606-$79635. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
