The Department of Administration (ADOA) - Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology (ASET) Office develops and executes the statewide IT strategy for Arizona state government and provides IT infrastructure and services to state agencies to ensure continuity of mission-critical and essential systems. ASET is managed by Arizonas State CIO and serves as an information technology leader for the State of Arizona government.

The Digital Solutions Office (DSO) is focused on enabling integrated and personalized digital experiences that empower and improve the lives of individuals businesses and visitors to Arizona. The office will do so by collaborating across multiple programs and agencies.

Our team is seeking a motivated UX Research Intern who is passionate about enhancing user experiences through insightful research and analysis. The DSO UI/UX Intern will support user-centered design initiatives and help ensure that our digital solutions meet the needs and expectations of our diverse user base.

The State of Arizona strives for a work culture that affords employees flexibility autonomy and trust. Across our many agencies boards and commissions many State employees participate in the States Remote Work Program and are able to work remotely in their homes in offices and in hoteling spaces. All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

• Assist in conducting user research to gather insights on user behavior needs and motivations through methods such as interviews surveys usability testing and analytics.
• Help analyze research findings and contribute to actionable recommendations to inform design and development decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers developers product managers and stakeholders to integrate user research findings into the product development process.
• Support the development and maintenance of user personas journey maps and other research artifacts to communicate user insights and drive user-centered design practices.
• Participate in the user research process from planning and recruitment to data collection analysis and reporting. Advocate for the user and ensure that user experience considerations are integrated into all stages of the product lifecycle.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in UX research and apply them to enhance our research methodologies and processes.
  

Knowledge of:

• The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in user interface/user experience design as well as strong communication skills

• Currently pursuing a degree in UX Research Human-Computer Interaction Psychology Sociology or a related field.
• Familiarity with a variety of research tools and methodologies including usability testing interviews surveys and analytics.
• Basic knowledge of UX design principles human-computer interaction and the ability to collaborate effectively with design and development teams.
