Job Summary

A forward-looking Good primary school in Northampton seeks an ambitious Year 2 Teacher to join its KS1 phase on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. The successful Year 2 Teacher will be part of an experienced phase team that values strong pedagogy inclusion and measurable progress. The Year 2 Teacher will begin collaborative planning before January 2026 attend induction in January 2026 and teach from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher.

Year 2 is a pivotal year: the Year 2 Teacher will ensure each child secures early reading skills and number confidence. The Year 2 Teacher will lead daily phonics guided reading and well-sequenced writing units and will use precise formative assessment to target interventions. The Year 2 Teacher will be supported with CPD coaching and small-group TA support from January 2026. As Year 2 Teacher you will have the chance to shape transition work into Key Stage 2 and to develop innovative learning projects after the January 2026 start.

Key responsibilities for the Year 2 Teacher

  • The Year 2 Teacher will plan and deliver quality-first teaching in reading writing and maths.
  • The Year 2 Teacher will monitor progress run targeted interventions and provide feedback that moves learning on.
  • The Year 2 Teacher will engage parents run workshops and support pastoral needs as required.
    The Year 2 Teacher is expected to prepare before January 2026 attend induction during January 2026 and take up the Full-Time Year 2 Teacher post from January 2026.
