The Intelligence Production Solutions Division (IPSD) part of the Decision Advantage Solutions Business Area is currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Test Engineer for the Chinook Program. This role will be integral in ensuring the quality and performance of critical systems through both manual and automated testing with a focus on Playwright based automation framework. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in testing engineering both manual and automated and a deep understanding of quality assurance best practices with an Agile development environment.

Position may be performed in the following locations below. Please note Gaithersburg MD is the programs primary work location.

Clearance Level Required:

Top Secret with SCI eligibility and able to obtain a Polygraph.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design develop and maintain robust automated test suites for both end-to-end web applications and APIs using Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams including developers DevSecOps engineers and system analysts to define acceptance criteria test cases and quality metrics.

  • Implement test automation for RESTful APIs ensuring thorough validation of backend functionality performance and integration with frontend components.

  • Work with the team to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines ensuring tests run consistently with every build and deployment.

  • Lead the evolution of test automation frameworks including architecture reusable libraries and test data strategies.

  • Analyze system requirements and identify edge cases to achieve comprehensive test coverage.

  • Troubleshoot issues capture logs report defects and work closely with developers to resolve problems.

  • Support system and user acceptance testing including scenario development and execution tracking.

  • Document test plans strategies results and metrics for internal and customer reporting.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on automation best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizenship is required per contract.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.

  • 8 years of experience in software quality assurance and testing with a focus on both manual and automated testing.

  • including 3 years of hands-on experience with Playwright or equivalent frameworks (e.g. Cypress Selenium) in test automation for modern web applications.

  • Strong experience with Playwright for automating end-to-end web application tests.

  • Expertise in manual testing methodologies including creating detailed test plans test cases and test scripts.

  • Solid understanding of Agile software development and the role of testing within Agile workflows.

  • Proficiency in writing automated test scripts using Java JavaScript or TypeScript with experience implementing Playwright in continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (Jenkins GitLab CI AWS CodePipeline).

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.

  • Strong knowledge of web technologies (HTML CSS JavaScript) and browser behavior.

  • Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or similar.

  • Ability to analyze complex requirements and design comprehensive test strategies.

  • Agile development experience with familiarity in Scrum or SAFe frameworks.

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving troubleshooting and debugging skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate test findings and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Customer or other Intelligence Community (IC) customers.

  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats visualization tools or related processing workflows.

  • Experience with cloud-based testing environments (e.g. AWS or Azure).

  • Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).

  • Experience with performance testing (e.g. LoadRunner JMeter) accessibility compliance and security testing.

  • Experience with other automations tools such as Selenium Cypress or Junit.

  • Experience with security testing and awareness of security vulnerabilities (OWASP).

  • ISTQB Certified Test Automation Engineer or equivalent certifications.
