Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their individual family and community health and wellbeing needs through our clinical and community programs.
Our main services are in Wellington Dubbo Western Sydney Penrith Nepean and Blue Mountains and we provide outreach services to other towns and communities through our regional programs.
Position:- Full time fixed-term contract (12 months)

About the Role:
Seeking a Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration and at least 2 years of experience in a General Practice setting. The role involves managing complex clinical cases working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team and providing patient care with creativity and initiative. Strong communication time management and organizational skills are essential. Candidates must demonstrate cultural awareness of Aboriginal communities and proficiency in report writing and health system data entry. Experience in a busy health environment handling diverse patient needs is required.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in a busy health environment dealing with patients experiencing a range of health challenges.
- Registered Nurse (NSW) with current unencumbered AHPRA Registration.
- Proven ability to manage competing demands and complex clinical cases.
- Able to work independently as well as be part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team.
- Able to demonstrate creativity and initiative in relation to patient care.
- Excellent communication time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
- A high standard of report writing including data entry in a range of health systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in General Practice setup.
Key Duties:
- Liaise between clients and clinic staff and assist with the follow-up of clients treatments.
- Collect collate and coordinate health statistics and information processes for the advancement of Aboriginal health and well-being.
- Implement and evaluate public health strategies programs and services directed to the needs of the Aboriginal community of the region.
- Undertake primary care tasks within the boundaries of your qualifications.
- Provide appropriate referral services referring clients to appropriate services and community health.
- Monitor local Aboriginal Health problems and needs and advise the General Manager and/or professional staff.
- Participate in or carry out preventive and health education activities under the supervision of GPs and or Nursing Staff.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle in the community.
Experience Qualifications & Licenses:
- A Current National Police Check.
- A Current Working With Children Check NSW.
- Current Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
- COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster information (or evidence of a valid medical exemption).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Experience in the use of Communicare software (preferred)
Requirements:
- Prior experience in General Practice. (essential)
- AHPRA Registered Nurse Registration.
