SUMMARY: Under direction this position operates a 12 passenger/or mobility minivan on a demand response basis and performs the related work as required. Transit services are provided for Macy Walthill and Rosalie villages. Routes include local and out of town trips to South Sioux City NE and Omaha NE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Operates transit van in a safe efficient and courteous manner to allow passengers to board travel and depart at scheduled stops.
- Inter-personal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers supervisor and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work directions.
- Must know geographic area and road/street layout for Omaha Indian Reservation.
- Inspect passes ascertain appropriate fares.
- Ensures that customers deposit appropriate coins and bills into fare box.
- Contacts control center regarding all problems
- Operates lift to board and discharge disabled passengers.
- Inspect vehicles for lost articles.
- Prepares daily trip sheets and bus for service.
- Maintain stringent record/Document keeping practices.
- Random drug and alcohol testing per the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) as published in regulations 49 CFR part 40 as amended and 655.
- Makes Post-accident reports to Transit Lead Driver.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual ability to sufficiently read and write reports correspondence instructions ETC. Effectively Operate Equipment including radio equipment cell phones Multi-line telephones fax maps manuals etc.
- Hearing ability sufficient to hold a conversation with others in person by telephone and over radio equipment.
- Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with others in person by telephone and radio equipment.
- Maintain regular punctual attendance as stated in the Omaha tribe personnel policy and procedure manual.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Must Possess a Valid Nebraska Drivers License; (CDL) Class C.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Must be willing to attend training for job skills enhancement or other training as assigned by supervisor. Training may include GPS training policy training or other training pertinent to this position;
- Ability to operate under pressure and speak distinctly.
- Computer software applications and use of computer
- Math and customer service skills
