Job Summary:

Responsible for serving as a resource for patients coordinating patient financial assistance requests and application review assisting patients who may qualify for Medicaid or other government or local social service programs assisting with loan program coordination and working assigned patient account work queues.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes patient payment plans or refers patients to vendor loan program in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Provides health benefits counseling including informing patients of their rights and responsibilities in relation to appropriate government entities and third-party payer options. Assists patients in understanding and completing financial assistance for
  • Acts as a primary resource for internal and external questions and assistance in relation to community service programs.
  • Coordinates ACHC referrals tracking including preparation of physician communications.
  • Manages assigned patient work queues.
  • Documents patient concerns questions and account resolution steps in Epic to facilitate comprehensive and accurate account history.
  • Reviews and analyzes charity applications to determine a patient/guarantors financial status and ability to pay
  • Reviews Epic OnBase and other systems to obtain required information such as referral/ authorization numbers ABN or financial responsibility form (FRF) capture accident or work injury dates etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting standing walking reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms malfunctioning machinery etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending stooping kneeling squatting twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
