Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advance Practice RN-Part Time to join our Inpatient Medical Unit. We are a fast paced 14 bed Pediatric Medical/Surgical unit that provides care for patients with acute medical diagnoses as well as Post Operative patients including General Surgery ENT Neurosurgery Craniofacial and Orthopedics. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Schedule: 7PM-7:30 AM
2 x 12-hour shifts
24 hours/week
Rotating holidays and weekends

SCHEDULE: Part-time- 24 hours/week. Two 12-hour shifts from 7p-7:30a. Rotating weekends and holidays.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Practices health promotion health supervision illness prevention and diagnosis treatment and management of common health problems and acute and chronic conditions including assessing patients ordering diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments synthesizing and analyzing data and applying advanced nursing principles.

  • May perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in collaboration with the attending physician.

  • Complies with all Nebraska statutes and regulations related to nurse practitioners.

  • Assists with research projects as needed.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds.

  • Works collaboratively with nursing staff respiratory therapy staff other departments to promote quality and safe patient care.

  • Provides input to policy/procedure development.

  • Participates in performance improvement activities.

  • Promotes professionalism within the healthcare team other departments families and patients.

  • Promotes a culture of safety and a non-punitive environment.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate competence in providing direct patient care and patient and family education.

  • Communicate with patients families and staff and collaborate with other members of the health care team to enhance care.

  • Make assessments and problem solve.

  • Keep complete accurate records of all events and results of patient encounters in a timely manner.

  • Be a strong patient advocate.

  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing required.

  • Licensed as an APRN-Nurse Practitioner in the State of Nebraska prior to start date required.

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • PALS certification required.

  • ACLS certification required.

  • Prior working knowledge of using a personal computer and electronic medical records required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pediatric critical care setting preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS EQUIPMENT USAGE WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Requires moving lifting a minimum of 50 pounds of force occasionally (34-66%) and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects (0-33%). Requires turning and positioning patients properly to avoid injury. Requires walking and standing most of the time while on duty. Possesses audible acuity necessary for taking blood pressures and maintaining patient safety. Possesses visual acuity necessary for reading charts forms communications administering medications and patient assessments.RN is subject to inside conditions such as in a typical office or administrative work.
