DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY
TheMechanical Engineersupports new product development for the companys Thermal global products. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design of new products as part of a cross-functional group. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products
- Develops solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required
- Creates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
- Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOMs based on options selected by the customer.
- Works with Marketing Manufacturing Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all their needs.
- Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise.
- Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
- Understands the products suggest ideas and improvements.
- Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
- Interact with outside vendors and suppliers as needed.
- Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors or associate degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts products and safety.
- CAD tools experience - PTC Creo 8 (preferred) Solid Edge and/or Solid Works.
- Experience with sheet metal piping and assemblies is a plus.
- Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle Agile Windchill etc.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent planning organizing documentation and communication skills.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.
- Light Lifting (5-25 Ibs.)
- Frequent Standing
- Occasional kneeling / crawling / stooping
- Occasional bending / twisting
TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Travel to the production factory in Apodaca for product launch.
